Klausturhof Guesthouse is located at Klaustursquare in the inner part of the village where the waterfall Systrafoss is falling from the lake Systravatn.
Klausturhof is built of several recently rebuilt houses from last century. The houses were originally built for cooperated commercial activities. The oldest one, built in 1936 and housed the first co-op shop in the district, we have our coffee house Kaffi-Munkar.
variety of landscape and vegetation. A natural environment of striking contrasts.
Klaustur offers a swimming pool, supermarket, gas station, bank and different service for travellers. Road no. 1, the Ring road, runs through the village and district roads radiate from Klaustur to many directions.
At Kirkjubæjarklaustur was a nun monastery from 1186-1550. Many historical names and places are a reminder of the monastery, e.g. Systrastapi, Systrafoss and Systravatn. (the Icelandic word for sister is systir).
We use local ingredients like Klaustur arctic char, vegetables and whole wheat in our Café, Kaffi-Munkar.
